Casey Walsh is honored to accept a Senior Fellowship from FRIAS, at the University of Freiburg, Germany. He will be in residency Januuary to August of 2026, writing a new book: Neighborly Waters: Groundwater Regulation in California. This book is based on 10 years of research on the design and implementation of California's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.(SGMA). He shows how people in the Cuyama Valley conceptualize community and manage groundwater in a context of rapid depletion, climate uncertainty, and financialized capitalist agriculture.
